We use PDO threads. It is a safe & effective absorbable suture made from a biocompatible material called PDO, polydioxanone.PDO is a safe raw material that has been used for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery for wound closure.
Our PDO threads are FDA approved and used to pull and approximate soft tissues of the sagging skin to a desired position.
The thread lift procedure works in two ways.
The first is fairly straightforward. By threading thin, dissolvable sutures underneath your skin, we are able to pull your skin tighter.
Invisible, painless “barbs” grab on to your skin and make sure that the thread grips your underlying tissue and muscles as the thread is pulled tight.
Once a barbed thread is inserted, your body’s healing response is triggered. Even though you’re not injured by the threads under your skin, your body detects a suture material and stimulates collagen production in the affected area. Collagen can fill gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful elasticity to your face.
Patients will experience minimal pain, minimal scarring, and a rapid recovery.
After the procedure, patients may immediately return to daily lives, but they should consult with their physicians before resuming exercise and other intense activities.
Although minimal, side effects may include but are not limited to bruising, dimpling, and swelling.
PDO thread procedures are safe for adults who keep up with healthy lifestyles and have maintained their weight for at least three months.
Patients will see immediate results after the procedure that can last up to 1 year. Our threads have a stronger fixation power and better specification designs in comparison to other PDO threads.
By restoring the patient’s lost youth with a sharper jawline and V-line, Thread procedures address signs of aging caused by gravity, such as sagging skin.
MONO THREADS
Skin aging involves a loss of collagen and thinning of elastic fibres (elastin). Elastin and collagen form the ‘scaffolding’ of the face and as they diminish with age, we lose structure and elasticity in the skin resulting in facial laxity or ‘sagging’ & fine lines and wrinkles.
PDO Mono threads are short biodegradable filaments coated in a stimulatory material (PDO – polydioxanone). They are inserted under the skin – much like scaffolding on a building, to stimulate collagen and elastin production, firming and smoothing fine lines, wrinkles and ‘crepey’ skin on the face and neck.
Mono threads are minimally invasive and are performed in clinic by our experienced Nurses.
They can be used to treat a single area e.g. tear troughs or cheeks, or multiple areas of the face and neck in a single appointment.
Mono threads are ideal for rejuvenating the skin without adding volume or ‘bulk’ to the treatment area and are a great when paired with volumising treatments such as treatment with dermal fillers.
There is minimal downtime associated with mono thread treatment – you will experience some minor localised swelling, minor bruising and irregularities in the skin which will settle in 1-5 days. You will see some immediate improvement in skin quality following treatment however as mono threads are a stimulatory treatment, results are gradual and can be seen over 10-12 weeks.
For anyone considering this treatment, at Facetherapy NI, we offer free consultations. During a consultation, the problem area or the area to be enhanced would be discussed. Different options and the advantages would be highlighted, and what to expect in terms of any minor discomfort or slight bruising. Before and after photographs of previous clients will be shown and the customer would be reassured of the highest level of professional care and safety standards that are upheld at Facetherapy NI as well as benefiting from my years of professional experience and expertise.
Most of our clients enjoy satisfactory results after just one treatment. Come in six to nine months after your first treatment so we can determine if you need a follow-up treatment. After that, you shouldn’t need another treatment for three years.
